People get so concerned about being safe to stay alive that they spend their entire lives never feeling alive.

What kind of person are you? Are you the “live fast die young” type, or the “better safe than sorry” type?

At 30 years old I should have died a hundred times over. I lived a chaotic life in college, and spent seven years winding down after that. But you know what I have? Experiences.

Although debatable – you only have one life to live. In this life you have memories, the things you are dealing with now, and the thoughts you have about what’s ahead. There is only past, present, and future.

Your past experiences literally define you as the person you are today. I don’t care if someone has told you otherwise, who you are today is based off of the person you were yesterday. Sure, you can change who you are, but you can never change who you were, or some peoples’ opinions of you. Have you lived a fulfilling life so far? Did you hurt others to get to where you are today? We all carve our paths – has yours been worth it so far?

You are experiencing life right now, too. For some reason you’re wasting your time reading my meaningless words. Do you even know who I am? I guess it doesn’t matter.

Are you living in the present? Are you appreciating the air conditioned room you are sitting in, or the clarity of the air you breathe? Are you thankful for your pet that sits close by, keeping you company, or that annoying friend who texts you a little too much? Life passes us by so fast, it’s important to slow down for a second and just look around.

What about the future? I say stop worrying about it. There’s only so much you can control in your life, and it’s only what’s directly in front of you. You can’t know for certain what’s going to happen tomorrow, you can only plan ahead. Your future experiences should be something you are excited about – even if you don’t expect anything good to come of it.

Life is just a game, and in the end we’re all going to die. Might as well make the most of it. Are you going to take today by the throat?
